Last weekend, on May 22–23, 2026, the eighth edition of the trail ultramarathon event Ohrid Ultra-Trail took place on the slopes of Mount Galicica and in Ohrid. Once again, the event delivered a true sporting spectacle, bringing together professional and recreational runners from around the world on some of the most beautiful mountain trails in the region.
This year, Ohrid Ultra-Trail reached a record number of participants, with 920 from 40 countries competing across six races: 105 km, 65 km, 42 km, 21 km, 10 km, and the 10 km junior category. All races took place throughout the landscapes of Galicica National Park, with a shared finish line at the main city square in Ohrid.
Participants had the opportunity to run through unique mountain scenery between Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa, along routes offering a combination of technical terrain, elevation challenges, and panoramic views characteristic of the region.

This year again, the Galicica Ultra race was included in the national skyrunning calendar, and the highest-ranked Macedonian athletes will have the opportunity to represent the country at international competitions.
Ohrid Ultra-Trail continues to develop as one of the most significant trail running events in the region, recognized for its international atmosphere, natural beauty, and high organizational standards. The event is organized by the sports associations TREX from Skopje and Top Adventures from Ohrid, with support from local institutions, partners, volunteers, and rescue services.
As part of the race weekend, the traditional Expo event was also organized at the “Kliment Koleski” Sports Complex, where visitors had the opportunity to discover sports equipment, meet partners, and explore activities connected to outdoor and trail running culture.
